If your washing machine has broken down, you’ll need to call out an appliance repairs.  Most appliance repairers will be able to work with the majority of washing machine types, brands and models.  To choose a good appliance repairer however, there are some questions that you’ll need to ask.  Firstly, ask if the washing machine will be repaired within warranty.  If your warranty is expired, the appliance repairer should outline what charges you can expect – if labor will be a set charge or hourly, and the cost of the parts.  A good appliance repairer will tell you if it is worth fixing the washing machine before going ahead with anything as, in some cases, it may actually be more economical to replace it!  It really does depend on what the diagnosis is.

The appliance repairs should give you a full 12 month warranty on the repair of your washing machine, and the warranty should cover both parts and labor.  Ideally, the repair will be able to be carried out the same day but if the washing machine requires parts that the repairer doesn’t have in stock, they should arrange to return as soon as it comes into stock.  Of course, you shouldn’t necessarily choose the cheapest appliance repairer!  Choose one that you are confident in and that you know is experiences and knowledgeable.
